Highlighting all AKL domain sequences in Gram-positive bacteria displaying phenylalanine (F) in position 35 reveals that all of these sequences are extremely conserved throughout the whole length of the visualised protein with rare variation in positions 9, 20, 23 and 25. The total number of sequences in this selection is 12, out of which 6 are identical). The underlying causes for this unusual conservation remain to be investigated. One of possible reasons could be a mis-curation of the MSA (which requires to be confirmed).
